Innishvilla U12's had the honour of being the ballboys for Cork City's home match against
Bray Wanderers recently. A great evening was had by all and was followed up by a trip to Spizzaco's in Innishannon. Here are
some pictures from the evening.

Corinthians 4 : 1 Innishvilla
The lads were really looking
forward to this game. The weather on the night was atrocious. It was cold, very wet and a gale force wind was blowing. The
team put up a fantastic first half performance and were very unlucky to be 1-0 down at half time. Not to sound like sour grapes
but to ask any player and in this case 11/12/13 year olds to play in these conditions was disgraceful. For the first part
of the second half the team continued to put up a great fight but it was not to be our day. The game ended 4-1 to
the home team with Don Lynch scoring our goal. Lads take a bow, you did great. Let’s hope we can go one step further
next season.
The cup run had come to
an end and there were three league games left. Next up Riverstown at home.RESULT; INNISVILLA 1- RIVERSTOWN 4.The best of teams
have an off day and this was this teams day to have one. There can be no complaints and our chances of a second place finish
had disappeared. In the last two games the team gave two fine performances and the results were INNISVILLA 6- KANTURK 2 and
INNISVILLA 4-WILTON 2.
The team came 4th in the
league which they should be proud of this. Again well done to all; the players, their parents, the supporters and coaches. Hopefully we can learn from the seasons experiences and be a better team for next
season. Finally enjoy the summer holidays and stay active.
Carrigaline 1 : 2 Innishvilla
Next game, away to Carrigaline
in the league. A win was vital to remain in contention for the league. The result went our way with a 2-I victory.
Next up the climax to our season; the semi-final of the schoolboy’s cup, away to College Corinthians. This was the least
that this group of lads deserved for all the effort and time they put in.
Innishvilla 3 : 2 Rylane Celtic
(AET)
Rylane are top of Division 1 and proved themselves to be
very tough opposition. There were no quarters spared in this match. Every player gave it his all. Niall O'Sullivan got our
first goal and Eoghan Delaney got our second to leave the score 2-1 with fifteen minutes to go. Innishvilla were playing well
and in control of the game. Rylane were not finished and scored the equalizer. The game went into extra time and would test
the stamina of the team. They dug deep and were rewarded with a goal from Oisin O’Callaghan. The players and their great
supporters went wild with delight. This was another fantastic result and a great evening for the team and the club.
This team had now reached the semi-final of
the cup, the first time that a small club but big in heart, and a country team had got to this stage of such a major competition.
Our opponents were to be College Corinthians the aristocrats of under age soccer. At this point in our journey, lets mention
the team/panel, Captained by Eoin Harte
those involved were Gearoid Ryan, Garry Farrell, David McCarthy, Joseph Lynch, Darragh Crowley, Tim Cummins, Cormac Saedas,
Niall O'Sullivan, Aidan Walsh, Don Lynch, Fiachra Wall, Phillip Ryan, Oisin O'Callaghan, Brendan Lynch, Paul Davis, Donnacha
O'Driscoll, Eoghan Delaney.
Maymount Celtic 1 : 6 Innishvilla
Maymount who
play in the premiership agreed to a date change on condition that we loose home advantage. So we went to Blarney with a very good away record.
We got into the game from the start and the goals came quickly. The team played to their strengths and spread the ball wide
and kept it on the turf. Maymount did not know what hit them and were totally outclassed by a team that was improving with
every game. Goals were scored by Eoghan Delaney(another hat-trick),Philip Ryan with 2 goals and one from Niall O'Sullivan
playing in his new attacking role. A great team performance and well done to all the lads
Everton 0 : 5 Innishvilla
This was a vital game if we were to stay in contention
for top place in the league. Everton were one place ahead of us, so a win was a must. In a word the performance was FANTASTIC.
Lets not get big heads but when applause is deserved it should be given. The team of Gearoid Ryan, David McCarthy, Darragh
Crowley, Eoin Harte, Cormac Sedas, Niall O'Sullivan, Don Lynch, Tim Cummins (just back from holidays, jet -lagged and playing
in a new role), Aidan Walsh, Eoghan Delaney, Paul Davis, Joseph Lynch and Garry Farrell gave a display of what soccer and
team sport is all about. Lads, take a bow. All our goals were scored by Eoghan Delaney, a great achievement and well done.
Taking nothing away from Eoghan but it is worth pointing out that this team has only conceded two goals in seven matches;
a wonderful defensive record and one to be proud of. This win puts the team in third place two points ahead of Everton and
in a strong position to move into second place. Lets not get carried away and take one game at the time.
Mallow 3 : 5 Innishvilla
(U12 schoolboys cup)
The performance
of the season, so far, a superb team performance. From the tip off the team showed commitment,
great energy, brilliant support play and a definite will to win. Mallow are two divisions above us and we knew that we had
to put in a big performance to get a result. Gearoid Ryan had a solid game in goal. Captain Eoin Harte and his back
line of Darragh Crowley, David McCarthy and Cormac Sedas (playing for the first time in his new role of left full back) gave
very little away on the day and commanded their line well. Midfield ran their hearts out; Don Lynch, Philip Ryan, Niall O’Sullivan
and Aidan Walsh. Some great moves resulted in defence splitting passes to the up front pairing of Paul Davis and Eoin Delaney
who scored a wonderful hat trick. Aidan (another player playing in a new role) scored one of the goals of the season to leave
the score at the interval 3-1.Philip scored another cracker (also a goal of the season contender) with his ever-dependable
left leg. Brendan Lynch came on in the second half and played his part in the victory. A special mention to the other substitute
Joseph Lynch who at very short notice togged out on the day and played his part when he came on in the second half. Joseph
also highlighted the importance on having a strong panel as we are now in the position of having strong competition for places.
Lets hope that the team can keep up this type of performance for the rest of the season in the league and the cup. Don’t
forget the old cliché; a team is only as good as its last performance.
Innishvilla
4 : 0 Richmond (League)
Some games
are best forgotten and our game against Richmond was one of these. Yes the result went our way, a 4-0 victory over very weak
opposition. This display can be put down to a long winter break; the team was still in hibernation!! Hopefully this kind of
performance is behind us and that we can raise our game for the remaining matches. This panel of players has shown great commitment
all season and deserves to do well. This can be achieved if we can put in performances like that against Crosshaven in the
cup. Lets get back to the game. In fairness the defence kept a clean sheet maintaining a very good defensive record. Two goals
were scored in the first half by Eoin Delaney and two goals in the second half by Aidan Walsh and Philip Ryan. This result
puts the team into 4th place. Finally the best of luck on Saturday to the under 11 team in their top of the table
clash with Crosshaven from the under 12’s.
Crosshaven
3 : 3 Innishvilla (After Extra Time)
Penalties 3 : 5
(U12 Schoolboys Cup)
What a game. This game had everything; excitement, team spirit,
skill (in atrocious conditions) and a cliffhanger of a finish. The game was played in Crosshaven and it was great for
the team to get back into action again after a long break. Crosshaven, who play in a league above us, showed themselves
to be a useful team in the first half and it was obvious to see why they were unbeaten in their league. Crosshaven led 1-0
at halftime. Innishvilla could not have asked for a worse start to the second half as they conceded a soft goal within the
first few minutes. This panel of players were not going to lie down without a fight. Some players who played their hearts
out were feeling the effects of the difficult conditions and it was time to use the full panel of players. Eoin
Harte sent a long ball out to the left wing where it was gathered by Eoghan Delaney who delivered a defence-splitting cross
into the Crosshaven goalmouth where Paul Davis rose high to score a cracker of goal. From here on Innishvilla took control
and dominated for the rest of game. Don Lynch and Darragh Crowley took control of midfield. Philip Ryan played his heart
out on the left wing. Aidan Walsh had a blinder and capped it with our second goal to level matters with only two minutes
to go. Extra time had to be played. This brought back memories of the game against Rockmount in the 2003- 2004 season. The
team was now playing like a unit. Gary Farrell who had a fine game in goal kept his backs on their toes and the
pressure was rewarded with a fine goal from Donnacha O'Driscoll. As extra time was coming to an end and victory seemed secured
Crosshaven scored the equaliser. What a thriller. A penalty shoot out was necessary to decide the match. Eoin Delaney, Philip
Ryan, Don Lynch, Darragh Crowley and Donnacha O'Driscoll were successful with their kicks. The team and supporters went wild
with delight. A special mention for David McCarthy who could not start the game due to a head injury, which required stitches.
He was determined to play his part and togged out and came on as a substitute in the second half. Well done to every member
of the panel as you all played your part in this fine victory. The team play Mallow in the next round.
Innishvilla
5 : 0 Ballinhassig
Innishvilla
took Ballinhassig apart in this local derby match at Skevanish. Pity only a small crowd were there to witness this fine display
by the home side. Ballinhassig were singly over whelmed by the team display and Eoghan Delaney deservedly retained the match
ball with his first soccer career hat trick. Donnacha O’Driscoll and Niall O’Sullivan also scored.
Innishvilla
1 : 0 Leeside/Knockraha
Innishvilla put another top half team to the sword on this cold Saturday morning. Without most
of their U-11 players, Innishvilla had the bare 11 players, due to the release of players to play with the Valley Rovers.
They played well to overwhelm Leeside. A solid defence with David McCarthy and Darragh Crowley playing brilliant,
they controlled matters and when Philip Ryan took a short corner to Oisin O’Callaghan he had only goal in mind. The
Leeside keeper never saw it and now Innishvilla move steadily up the table with another brilliant win.
Innishvilla
1 : 1 Rathcoole
In
a cracker of a game at Skevanish, Innishvilla and Rathcoole played a thriller. Rathcoole came here unbeaten but Innishvilla
played superb team football to put it up to the opposition. Paul Davis took his chance when Niall O’Sullivan set him
up but a late, late goal stole a point for the opposition. This should get their season off again as their commitment on the
morning was brilliant.
Innishvilla
0 : 1 Tramore Athletic
Innishvilla suffered a surprise defeat to Tramore on the evening they put in
a poor display to leave the game behind them. The Bandon defeat seemed to deflate the team and theygave away a soft goal to
leave the points behind them Eoin Harte and Paul Davis were the only ones to show up.
Bandon
4 : 1 Innishvilla
Innishvilla travelled to Bandon for an evening game under a big handicap. All
Innishvilla players were involved in a school’s match competition during the day and this was bound to affect them.
They played well in the first half with Eoghan Delaney scoring a superb individual goal. However, a physically stronger Bandon
team wore them down and eventually equalised before halftime. Bandon took over in the second half and scored 3 without reply
to win convincingly. Captain Gearoid Ryan and Fiachra Wall played their hearts out.
Innishvilla
4 : 0 Killinardish
Innishvilla opened their league campaign with an emphatic victory to avenge last year’s
defect to this same opposition. The pre-season commitment and training showed as Innishvilla dominated throughout, Eoghan
Delaney with 2, Oisin O’Callaghan and Oliver Creedon scored and the tally could have been much more only for over elaboration
and the fact that all subs played for some part upsetting the rhythm at times. Don Lynch and David McCarthy impressed.
